Our stay in Beijing

Our stay in Beijing is almost at the end. All documents are now ready and we will fly back to The Netherlands tomorrow morning.... home, finally!

We discovered a little bit of China and its culture, enjoying visits to temples and historical monuments but also simply walking in town to have at least a feeling of this country which is probably impossible to fully discover in even one entire life.

We particularly liked the beautiful parks where you can escape from the really hot weather and find peaceful places to rest, play, have lunch and rent a boat for a tour of the lake..... But more importantly, these two weeks have been spent in getting to know and be acquainted to each other, trying to make Yang Yang understand what a family is. Justin helped us a lot!

Yang Yang is adorable and each day we discover more about his character, what he likes and what he dislikes.... He is 1,10 m. and 16 kilos of pure energy. He cannot stay quiet for a second, speaks a lot, eats everything, sleeps 10 hours in a row (lucky us!!!). His favourite cartoon is Bonnie Bears and he loves to play with cars of any kind. He is also very determined and sometimes is not so easy to have him..... following the rules! Indeed, his favourite words are "Bu yao" (I do not want). However, if you remain calm and try to explain to him the reasons why you are asking to do something, he becomes reasonable (it seems strange but it works despite the linguistic barrier). We have now found a way of understanding each other and we remember the basic Chinese words at least for the primary needs.

Since the first day we met, Yang Yang fell in love with his dad. Now he has also discovered that mum too is fun!

We are really very happy.

The Chinese chapter of our new adventure ends here. Tomorrow we will return back to the 'normal' life. It is time for all of us to share the daily life at home with the extended family and friends. For Yang Yang it is also time to discover his new country, go to school and find new friends.
