We zijn in Xi'an, na een probleemloze vlucht vanuit Peking. Volgens de lokale gids is Xi'an geen grote stad : Peking heeft 22 miljoen inwoners, Xi'an "slechts" 8 miljoen.... (er is trouwens een stad in het zuiden - we herinneren de naam niet - die 33 miljoen inwoners heeft!)
Voor ons is het wel een grote stad, met kilometers en kilometers grote woonblokken van 34 verdiepingen, en met druk verkeer. We hebben dan ook redelijk lang in de file gestaan van de luchthaven naar het hotel. Het is ook tropisch warm, rond de 35 graden.
Vanavond hebben we in het hotel gegeten, nu zijn we op de kamer en gaan zo slapen. Het is immers een lange reis geweest : 22 uur nadat we thuis vertrokken zijn, zijn we bij het hotel aangekomen, en we hebben niet veel geslapen in het vliegtuig vorige nacht.
We zijn klaar voor de grote dag morgen : rond 15:15u vertrekken we naar onze ontmoeting met Yang Yang.
Siamo arrivati a Xi'an nel pomeriggio : un breve volo di poco più di due ore da Pechino. All'aeroporto siamo stati accolti da una 'guida' locale che ci ha accompagnato in albergo.
Per quanto abbiamo potuto finora vedere Xi'an è una città piuttosto moderna, con una zona industriale nel settore nord. Ovunque si vedono grattacieli altissimi (34 piani), molti in costruzione, di appartamenti.... Xi'an ha 8 milioni di abitanti ma è considerata una città non molto grande.... In effetti non è che una questione di prospettiva: Pechino ha 22 milioni di abitanti e c'è una città nel sud del paese - di cui ora non ricordo il nome - che ne ha 33!
Per quanto riguarda il clima: caldo umido con temperatura di 35 gradi.
Abbiamo appena cenato in albergo e stiamo per andare a dormire: è stato comunque un viaggio lungo (22 ore da quando abbiamo lasciato a casa a quando siamo arrivati in albergo) e non abbiamo certo dormito molto in aereo la notte scorsa.
Domani è finalmente il grande giorno: incontreremo Yang Yang nel pomeriggio, non ci resta che far passare la mattinata. Buona notte!
We landed in Xi'an this afternoon around 4 p.m. after a 2 hours flight from Peking.
Xi' an looks like a big town with its 8 millions inhabitants even if Chinese consider it as not a real big city.... At the end of the day it' s just a matter of numbers: Peking has 22 millions inhabitants and a town in the South - we can' t remember the name - has 33!
The temperature is 35, really warm and humid.
A local guide has accompanied us at the hotel where we had dinner.
Tomorrow is the big day: we will meet Yang Yang in the afternoon.
Time to sleep at last ..... the trip was long and we did not really slept last night in the plane.
